The Society for Redox Biology and Medicine (SfRBM) recently announced the results of their 2024 elections, electing UVM Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Albert van der Vliet, PhD, as President-elect and Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Brian Cunniff, PhD, as a Council Member. The SfRBM was established in 1987 to provide solutions to global health challenges by advancing research and applications of redox biology. The SfRBM members include scientists, health care professionals, and trainees from both North and South America.

As President-elect, Dr. van der Vliet will work for the first 2 years with the President to oversee the activities of the Society, and then assume the role of President for the next 2 years. The main responsibilities include regular interactions with various co-leaders and Council members to advance the various goals of the Society, and to generate the scientific program for the annual SfRBM conferences.

As a council member, Dr. Cunniff will be responsible for chairing a committee for 2 years that supports the mission of SfRBM of empowering scientists, health care professionals, and trainees.
