Katie Queen, Ph.D. joins UVM Cancer Center

Katie Queen, PhD a former trainee in the Stumpff Lab joins the UVM Cancer Center as an assistant professor.

Katie Queen, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, has joined the UVM Cancer Center (UVMCC) team to facilitate science education, outreach, and communication initiatives. 

Dr. Queen completed her Ph.D. in the lab of UVM Cancer Center member Jason Stumpff, Ph.D., where she studied the regulation of a molecular motor important for the process of cell division. Her studies were funded by a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship

Dr. Queen has extensive experience in creating an interface between scientists and broad audiences. During her tenure as a graduate student, she helped facilitate the successful implementation of a “Careers in Cancer” day for local high school students, started a local chapter of “Science on Tap,” and created curriculum to engage both elementary and high-school students in STEM.
