  • Summer Parking at UVM-VT Campus: 5/19 – 8/15, 2025.Campus parking rules remain in effect. Restrictions may be modified, but all vehicles must be registered. Watch for signs throughout campus this summer indicating temporary lot closures due to maintenance/construction/events.
  • Spring Move Out Project: 11AM-2PM, 5/22 Buell. If you are moving out of the area or staying and need household goods, the Spring Move Our Project events are for you!  Here is all the information you will need to make your lives smoother.

  • LCOM vs. Geisel annual soccer game: 5/25 at 2:30pm at Virtue Field. Come cheer on the LCOM soccer club as they take on Dartmouth's Geisel School of Medicine! Last year was a barn burner of a 6-5 OT win for the Cats. Bring your vuvuzelas and signs for your favorite players, should be another good one! For more details contact LCOM Footy Club.
  • Vermont City Marathon & Relay Registration: 5/ 25, 7:15AM; 20 Lake St, Burlington, VT 05401. Running SIG will be fully sponsoring three 5-person relay teams for the Vermont City Marathon on Sunday, May 25th. Reach out to Jenna Bourdeau or Matthew O’Mara if you have a team and want the chance to be sponsored! We will be randomly selecting and registering prior to the price increase on MARCH 15th to give everyone plenty of time to register if not selected for funding. We will notify everyone interested, and if selected, have you completed a registration form. PLEASE ensure your team is committed to racing, it would be SO sad to have another team lose out on that funding! We really wish we could fund everyone, but if you aren’t selected, Connor Nowak has also posted an excellent option to raise money for the Cancer Center, including a discount from Run VT. Details on VCM: VCM is one of the most hype sporting events that takes place in Vermont with a TON of community support along the entire beautiful route and is the largest marathon relay in the US. Our goal is to have as much Larner participation as possible, so we have made the decision to use ~all~ of our sig funds to support the largest possible (5-person) team size. The relay distances add up to a full marathon, so there are several different distances that can be run at any pace, aka ANYONE can participate. Should be a blast, we hope to see you on the course or cheering on the sidelines!! 3–5-person relay team details here.

We protect student drop-in sessions to ensure our students are able to discuss any issues arising or concerns, and to ensure your dean is always accessible to you.   • LEAP Committee Election: Deadline to vote is 5/23. It's time to vote for your LEAP (Learning Environment and Professionalism) Committee representatives! The LEAP Committee is charged with reviewing and recommending initiatives and policies to support professional behavior across the academic medical center and its affiliate training site. You will vote for TWO reps from VT and ONE rep from CT campus. Thank you for helping to support a positive and professional learning environment.
  • Orient yourself to Step 1 starting with this one-page guide to planning.  The document has a link to a Step 1 planning Checklist applicable to all stages of the preparation process.  Stay tuned for an M1 pre-summer Step 1 and Year 2 planning session from Foundations and the Medical Student Services Team in June.
  • Call for M1 Tutors Open: OME is currently accepting Tutor Interest Form submissions until 10am on May 30th to identify a balanced cohort of co2028 active peer tutor candidates, covering a comprehensive set of pre-clinical services and content specialties. Note: The peer tutoring program has a limited number of active spaces to fill for an August 2025 start (n=11).  For more information, please refer to the introduction of the Tutor Interest Form.
  • OME Summer Internship Opportunities: Summer, 2025. Various teams are looking for students to apply for this paid internship. This summer there are opportunities to work with the Foundations, Admissions, Student Services, and the Learning Environment teams in the Office of Medical Education.   • Shelf Exam Success Recommendation Checklist: A compiled Academic Achievement list of tips, strategies, and considerations for co2027 shelf exam preparation planning: Link to Checklist.  This checklist can also be found along with other resources in the Clerkship Academic Success Planning page of the Academic Achievement Commons.  The checklist covers all things clerkship shelf: question bank, voucher requests, timing of self-assessments, supplemental resources.
  • Shelf Resources: A reminder that the Dana Library has some e-book and print books that may be helpful for shelf exams, test-taking and developing clinical knowledge: The Subject Exam link has supplemental resources for each clinical rotation (e.g., Case Files series, Step-up series); the Step 2 Exam link has an e-book "Test-taking Strategies for the USMLE Step 2".  Want to learn more about strategically approaching NBME clinical knowledge questions? Graduate students are highly sought tenants in the Burlington area and property owners often advertise specifically to them with special rates (less than would be offered to undergraduate students). Don't hesitate to ask housing contacts if they would consider lowering the advertised rate to secure a graduate student; it never hurts to ask!

Lost & Found

Lost something? Email the Office of Medical Student Education (OMSE) a description of the item. OMSE and the Dana Medical Library recently joined the UVM campus-wide lost & found system and search not only the College of Medicine, but campus as a whole to see if it's been turned in. If it hasn't, the office can file a claim for the item should someone turn it in soon!

Found something? Please turn it into either the Office of Medical Student Education (Given Courtyard n100) or the Dana Medical Library (First floor of the Medical Education Center) and we will be sure to log it into the Campus-Wide Lost & Found Database.

Found items are kept up to 30 days, and then are donated to various local organizations depending on the item.
