- Big Sib/Little Sib Match: One of the great programs at UVM COM is the Big/Little Match. Pairing second-year students with an incoming first-year is a great way to provide new students with a resource for answering questions, learning more about the school and potentially finding a mentor. Summer is a great time to fill with fun little surveys; please participate in the Big/Little Match Survey For Big Sibs (co2020) as soon as possible to ensure that you'll be matched with an M1 who has a similar background and interests. If you are interested in helping with the Match or have any questions, contact Student Council.

Class of 2021 - Welcome to the WeeklyWire!
- HAVEN Course NOW AVAILABLE: The HAVEN Program uses evidenced-based research to teach students about sexual misconduct. Whether you encounter misconduct or not, HAVEN will help empower you to make informed choices. HAVEN Training Part 1 must be completed by the July 1 deadline. - Pre-Matriculation Requirements: 07/01/2017 deadline. To enroll at the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont, all students must complete matriculation requirements using the interactive requirements checklist in Oasis, the Online Access to Student Information and Scheduling System. Using "Ctrl + F" you can search any webpage for specific words/content; this is a useful tool when reviewing the FAQs for something specific. If you cannot find an answer to your question, please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Medical Student Education.
- Subscribe to the LCOM Student Activities Calendar: Most of the Larner College of Medicine activities are advertised on our COM Student Activities Calendar. Students can view the calendar in Outlook, once you receive your MED email accounts (to be released mid-July), but the calendar is available online and students can also subscribe to the calendar on their mobile devices. Follow our instructions for how to subscribe carefully to set this up on your personal mobile device. Please contact the Office of Medical Student Education with any questions or concerns.

- NBME Vouchers are STILL available for Clinical Neurology, Family and Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Surgery: The NBME Clinical Science Mastery Series (CSMS) self-assessments are available for medical students to test their knowledge of the clinical sciences covered during a clinical clerkship. These self-assessments are built to the same content specifications as NBME clinical science subject examinations using items that previously appeared on recent subject examinations. If interested in a voucher, please email your request to StudentCOMServices@med.uvm.edu, identifying the subject for which you would like the voucher.
- NBME Updates:
- Good News! The NBME will provide examinees with the correct answers for questions they have answered incorrectly as part of the expanded feedback for the NBME Self-Assessment Services starting July 10, 2017. Please be advised that starting June 1, 2017, institutions will no longer be able to order vouchers for standard feedback self-assessments through the NBME store. Read more...
- NBME to Discontinue Pediatrics Advanced Clinical and Surgery Advanced Clinical Subject Examinations: Due to low utilization, the Pediatrics Advanced Clinical and Surgery Advanced Clinical Subject Examinations are being discontinued. Effective July 1, 2017, these exams will not be available for administration. The last possible date to order these exams is June 28, 2017. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the NBME Subject Examinations team at subjectexams@nbme.org.
- WEEKLYWIRE WILL MOVE TO A TWO-WEEK SCHEDULE SOON - Summer WeeklyWire Schedule: During the summer, the WeeklyWire will become the "Bi-WeeklyWire" and will be issued every other week between June 19 and August 14. Please note the following Submission Deadline schedule for the summer months:

CLASSIFIEDS
Seeking a House-Sitter
We are looking for someone to help house sit/watch our animals (2 dogs, 3 cats and 2 guinea pigs) for several weeks over the summer. The dogs likely won’t be there much of the time because we’re hoping to take them with us and they spend much of their time outside with an invisible fence. The house is in Charlotte and is about 30 minutes from UVM COM and the hospital. Dates are: 6/22-6/30 and 7/29-8/10 or 11. If it would be helpful to stay longer (ie for someone who has a month long rotation), there’s a private entrance, room and bathroom so that might be an option as well. Graduate students are highly sought tenants in the Burlington area and property owners often advertise specifically to them with special rates (less than would be offered to undergraduate students); thus, the Office of Medical Student Education pulls together a list of housing opportunities posted specifically for this group, so you don't miss out on a good deal. Moreover, medical students also try to keep good spaces "in the family" and are known to post to this list. Please contact the Office of Medical Education if you have any questions. Don't hesitate to ask the contact if they would consider lowering the advertised rate to secure a graduate student; it never hurts to ask!
