- Email Accounts: Students retain their COM email address for one year following their graduation. COMTS suggests students configure their COM email with a forwarding rule as soon as they get a new (professional) email address. This can be done via Outlook Web Access. If you have questions, use https://comis.med.uvm.edu/footprints or call (802) 656-7300.
- 2016-2017 Yearbooks: Congratulations to all the graduates! GREAT NEWS: Your yearbooks are ready and waiting for you in your Given mailboxes. We hope you enjoy them and have a wonderful commencement. Reminder: You can find your mailbox combination in their OASIS Academic History section, under the ‘mailboxes’ tab. Please contact Student Council with any questions.
- Commencement: Find videos, slideshows, and additional information regarding this past Sunday's Commencement Ceremony on the UVMLCOM Commencement event webpage. Please contact the Student Services Team with any questions.
- COMMENCEMENT LOST & FOUND: Did you lose something at Sunday's Commencement Ceremony? All gathered items will be available for pick-up in Given Courtyard C118 (Design & Photography Office) starting Monday, May 22nd. We will hold items for two weeks and then items of high value will be transferred to Police Services and items of low value will be donated to GoodWill. Please contact Medical Communicationswith any questions.
- SFS Loan Repayment Webinar: If you were unable to log on to one of the many webinars SFS offered, you are encouraged to watch the recordings online. Please contact Kari Brayden, the UVMLCOM Student Financial Services Coordinator with any questions.
- Student Financial Services Tip: Many of you have been working with us about repayment strategies and how to start managing your education debt. If you have not yet connected with Medical Student Financial Services (Kari Brayden), it's not too late! In the meantime, this article is very helpful in comparing the three income-based payment plans that almost all MD graduates will be utilizing during training. Check out the article online; it summarizes the three choices very well, especially Pay As You Earn vs Revised Pay As You Earn. - Class Gift: Don’t miss your chance to contribute to your Class Gift! All gifts will go to naming a locker for you class and in memory of Dr. John Meserve, M.D. ’83. Students will explore how to use their device to take clinical images in a secure way and import those photos into their patients’ charts and notes. - Upcoming Changes to the NBME Self-Assessment Services: The NBME will provide examinees with the correct answers for questions they have answered incorrectly as part of the expanded feedback for the NBME Self-Assessment Services starting July 10, 2017. Please be advised that starting June 1, 2017, institutions will no longer be able to order vouchers for standard feedback self-assessments through the NBME store. Read more...
- NBME to Discontinue Pediatrics Advanced Clinical and Surgery Advanced Clinical Subject Examinations: Due to low utilization, the Pediatrics Advanced Clinical and Surgery Advanced Clinical Subject Examinations are being discontinued. Effective July 1, 2017, these exams will not be available for administration. The last possible date to order these exams is June 28, 2017. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the NBME Subject Examinations team at subjectexams@nbme.org.
- Med Student Life Podcast (a helpful resource from our friends @ the University of Maryland School of Medicine): Topics include wellness, burnout, preparing for Step 1, transitioning to internship, health policy basics, and career decisions such as, “should I stay or should I go?” Producing public radio pieces has been a hobby of mine, even before this podcast came to life. The Red Wheelbarrow - Call for Submissions: UVMLCOM’s own literary and visual arts journal, The Red Wheelbarrow, is looking for submissions in the literary and visual arts related to the medical humanities. The medical humanities is an interdisciplinary field that aims to make sense of medical practice, education and human health and disease. We also encourage submissions that are unrelated to the medical humanities – we just love to see people’s creativity! Read more…
