Biomedical Research Excellence

The Larner College of Medicine receives approximately $90 - $100 million annually in research funding. Vermont is among the top ten states in per-capita federal research funding. Our researchers in laboratory, clinical, and community settings work to bring a greater understanding of disease and wellness, and new, more effective treatments.

Firestone Building RenderingFirestone Medical Research Building 

The construction of the Firestone Medical Research Building is due to be completed in the fall of 2022, with projected occupancy starting in the winter of 2023. A state-of-the-art facility, it brings to UVM 46,000 square feet of versatile space to support the continued success of today’s Larner researchers, and attract the next generation of outstanding scientists.
