The McClure Musculoskeletal Research Center the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont, is committed to understanding many different musculoskeletal injuries and various disorders. These include occupational and sport injuries, as well as traumatic, non-traumatic and congenital disorders. Here, professionals from orthopaedic surgery, rehabilitation medicine, physical therapy and biomedical engineering work together on a variety of research studies. Epidemiological studies identify factors that place individuals at risk for musculoskeletal injuries. Laboratory studies are performed to determine how the musculoskeletal structures are injured and how they heal. Information gained from such studies is used to develop prevention strategies. Clinical studies are also conducted to optimize treatment.
