About Us

TandohWelcome to the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (ODEI). At UVM, we believe that diversity and inclusion are fundamental drivers of institutional excellence that lead to innovation and the ability solve complex problems, both essential in the field of medicine.

My office serves as the campus leader in building diversity, equity and inclusion into all aspects of the UVM Larner College of Medicine's mission to provide culturally competent education, discovery and patient care. We collaborate with partners within our academic medical center and the greater university community to promote diversity, inclusion and equity across all groups on campus. These collaborations improve our effectiveness and ability for cultural transformation on our campus.

Our mission is to build a broadly diverse faculty, student, and staff community, to promote a culture that is welcoming and supportive, and to work toward health equity for all members of our communities. Our work is guided by a comprehensive strategic plan that supports the recruitment and retention of talented employees and students who contribute to these goals.

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strives to be a place where all members of our campus community are free to voice their concerns, collaborate and celebrate differences. We invite you to attend one of our events, engage in a dialogue directly with our office--publicly or privately--, and join us in making the UVM Larner College of Medicine a dynamic institution attracting innovators in science, education and patient care.

I am privileged and honored to serve in this important role and to be of service to the University of Vermont community. Achieving a community of inclusion cannot be achieved by a single department, committee or individual. At UVM, we believe that diversity includes everyone. Especially YOU.
