Jackson Interviewed for Car Crash Story on NBC5

(MARCH 16, 2023) Peter Jackson, M.D., assistant professor of psychiatry, was interviewed by NBC5 for a story on Vermont’s 10-year high in the number of fatal car crashes in 2022 — about 60 percent of which involved impaired drivers, state records show.

(MARCH 16, 2023) Peter Jackson, M.D., assistant professor of psychiatry, was interviewed by NBC5 for a story on Vermont’s 10-year high in the number of fatal car crashes in 2022 — about 60 percent of which involved impaired drivers, state records show.

Our brain’s decision-making processes fall into three steps: “Be aware, process, and react,” Jackson said. “All of those can be impacted by something like alcohol and other substances.” He emphasized the importance of thinking ahead when making choices with risk involved. “Consider those decisions in the context of others … and not making risky decisions when you’re alone.”
