(NOVEMBER 14, 2022) UVM Medical Center pediatric critical care physician Rebecca Bell, M.D., associate professor of pediatrics and president of the Vermont Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, urges new parents to limit visitors’ nonessential close contact with their babies in light of surging levels of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections in children, NECN and NBC10 Boston reported. While RSV season typically hits in January, February, and March, Bell noted, this year it is impacting communities during the holidays, and the sheer volume of get-togethers between Thanksgiving and New Year’s adds urgency to putting limits on contact with babies.

Dr. Bell's warning was also covered by several other media outlets, including NECN, VTDigger, and Vermont Public.
