King Encourages Lung Cancer Screening in Milton Independent Article

(JULY 12, 2022) John King, M.D., M.P.H., professor of family medicine, who practices in Milton, urges all high-risk patients to get screened for lung cancer, according to the Milton Independent. The Dartmouth and the University of Vermont Cancer Centers have named Milton an area of focus to promote early detection of lung cancer.

(JULY 12, 2022) John King, M.D., M.P.H., professor of family medicine, urges all high-risk patients to get screened for lung cancer, according to the Milton Independent. King practices in Milton, Vermont, which has been selected by the Dartmouth and the University of Vermont Cancer Centers as an area of focus to promote early detection of lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer death in Vermont and the U.S.

Examining non-symptomatic patients for signs of lung cancer is relatively new, King said, and many Vermonters are eligible for lung cancer screening but very few actually get screened. “We are also working closely with health care teams to make sure conversations about these screenings are a regular and routine part of health care in Vermont, and patients can get them in a timely fashion,” he said.
