Faculty teaching students

Education

Neurological Sciences faculty contribute substantially in teaching and mentoring medical students. The department offers a residency program and four fellowships, as well as programs for undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows interested in the neurosciences.

Research

The Department of Neurological Sciences is actively engaged in basic, clinical and translational research. Basic research is focused on epilepsy and cognition, cerebrovascular disease and stroke, neurobiology of GI function, neural control of bladder, epigenetics of behavior, neuropeptide signaling and regulation, and glial biology. Clinical studies and trials involve movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, ischemic stroke, epilepsy, and neurooncology.

The Neurology health care team at The University of Vermont Medical Center is an extensive group of highly skilled experts dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the brain and nervous system, such as stroke, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and neurodegenerative diseases.
