Drs. Bronwyn Bryant and Phillip Munson inducted into the Teaching Academy

Last week Bronwyn and Phillip were inducted into University of Vermont's Teaching Academy. The Teaching Academy sustains and supports an interdisciplinary community of educators who value the scholarship of teaching and learning while facilitating educator development; improve the efficiency and quality of medical education through collaboration and scholarship; and promote an academic environment that increases the value and impact of educators locally, regionally, and nationally. LCOM - Foundations Awards

Pamela Gibson, M.D. won the AMWA Gender Equity Award, which honors a male or female faculty member who promotes a gender-fair environment for the education and training of physicians and gender diversity in the field. Pam is Co-advisor of the Gender and Sexuality Alliance. (01/2017)

Rebecca Wilcox, M.D. won the Foundations Course Director Award, and her Nutrition, Metabolism, and Gastrointestinal System (NMGI) course won Outstanding Foundations Course Award. Rebecca was also nominated for the Foundations Teaching Award. (01/2017)

Mark Fung, M.D., Ph.D. and Andy Goodwin, M.D. were also nominated for the Silver Stethoscope awards, which recognizes the faculty member who had few lecture hours, but made a substantial contribution to students’ education. (01/2017)

Nick HeintzProfessor Emeritus Dr. Nicholas Heintz has been awarded the 2016 UVM President's Distinguished Citizenship and Service Award, which recognizes members of the University of Vermont faculty who have established a consistent and over time outstanding record of service to the University community. The award is designed to acknowledge exceptional service by an individual who is recognized as a true university citizen for contributions to institutional building at the University. (Sept. 2016)


Janssen_Heininger_VCCDr.Yvonne Janssen-Heininger featured on Obesity and Lung Disease Podcast; from a series of articles for which Yvonne acted as the editor to highlight the importance of obesity and lung disease. A number of her colleagues within the VLC contributed to this series, including Jason Bates, Anne Dixon and Ben Suratt. (June 2016)

REBECCAWILCOXDr. Rebecca Wilcox, M.D. received the Graduate Medical Education Teacher of the Year Award, which recognizes a faculty member with demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring, who goes above and beyond to stimulate intellectual curiousity, excelling in patient care and professionalism in the residents she supervises, and serves as a soruce of inspiration as a person and as a physician.
