Summary
Director, Microscopy Imaging Center: This is a College of Medicine, as well as Vermont Cancer Center Core Facility. The facility currently consists of a JEOL 1210 scanning transmission electron microscope with an attached X-ray microanalysis system, a JEOL 6060 scanning electron microscope, a Zeiss LSM 510 META confocal scanning laser microscope, a BioRad MRC 1024 confocal scanning laser microscope, an Olympus BX50 wide-field fluorescence imaging system with Optronics MagnaFire digital camera and Universal Imaging MetaMorph image analysis system, a Zeiss Axioscope wide-field fluorescence microscopy system, a CompuCyte laser scanning cytometer, an Arcturus laser capture microdissector, a Digital Instruments atomic force microscope, an Eppendorf microinjection system mounted on a n Olympus IX70 inverted one running Improvision Volocity software, and the other Universal Imaging MetaMorph. Also available in the faciltiy are a variety of flat-bed scanners and a Fujix Pictrography 3500 digital printer.
I am also responsible for directing the clinical electron microscopy in the Department of Pathology, and assuring compliance of the laboratory with College of Academic Pathologists (CAP) guidelines. The Microscopy Imaging Center was recently awarded accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of CAP.
