Susan Castellano is the Maternal and Child Health Director of the Family and Community Health Division for the Minnesota Department of Health as of January 2013. She is responsible for the oversight of adolescent health, early childhood comprehensive system, family planning, infant mortality reduction, reproductive health and women’s health.
Prior to her current role, Susan was the Acting Director, Performance Measurement and Quality Improvement Division for the Minnesota Department of Human Services. She oversaw a team of 38 conducting research and data analysis, developing reports, producing, legislative fiscal analysis, and conducting claims data integrity and quality assessment. She measured the quality of health care services provided to recipients of Minnesota’s public health care programs, including patient quality and satisfaction measures and managed care contract withholds. Also, she managed compliance with federal quality and reporting requirements including subcontractors and data sharing agreements with external research organizations, vendors, and academic institutions.
