The Memory Center at Fletcher Allen Health Care

The purpose of the Center is to provide diagnosis of age-related memory disorders and to manage conditions that may produce these disorders. 

Diagnostic Services: 
Medical Evaluation 
    1.    History and Physical Evaluation 
    2.    Laboratory and Electrodiagnostic Evaluation 
    3.    Neuroradiology and Neurophysiological Evaluation 
Neuropsychological Evaluation
Psychiatric Evaluation
Social Work Assessment

A multidisciplinary team including a physician, neuropsychologist and social worker evaluate the patient. Family members are encouraged to attend all patient appointments. The initial evaluation includes a thorough medical history, physical examination and neuropsychological testing. Appropriate outpatient laboratory and radiological examinations may be scheduled. 

During the second visit to the Center, the results of the evaluation are discussed with the patient and family and a therapeutic plan is outlined. The patient is then followed at regular intervals to monitor treatment progress. The treatment of the patient will be carefully coordinated with the primary care physician. Family members receive ongoing counseling for managing the care of the cognitively impaired relative.  The patient can also receive supportive counseling for management of their symptoms.
