Jonathan Rosen, M.D., associate dean for medical education and associate professor of medicine at Albany Medical College, has been appointed associate dean of undergraduate medical education for the University of Vermont College of Medicine clinical teaching affiliate Western Connecticut Health Network (WCHN).

Jonathan Rosen, M.D., associate dean for medical education and associate professor of medicine at Albany Medical College, has been appointed associate dean of undergraduate medical education for the University of Vermont College of Medicine clinical teaching affiliate Western Connecticut Health Network (WCHN). Rosen will succeed Joseph Cleary, M.D., longtime Norwalk Hospital internal medicine clinician and administrator, who has served as interim associate dean of undergraduate medical education at WCHN since October 2015.
An alumnus of Brown University, Rosen received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and completed an internal medicine residency at St. Vincent Hospital at University of Massachusetts School of Medicine in Worcester and a pulmonary fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital at Brown University School of Medicine.
Rosen joined the faculty of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Division at Albany Medical College in 1986 and has headed the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program for the last 20 years. He has held a number of medical education-related positions, including Internal Medicine Residency director, co-theme leader of the Clinical Skills course for the past 16 years, and as founder and co-director of the “Learning to Teach, Teaching to Learn” course for the past 15 years. He was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society as a faculty member and is a fellow of the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He has an avocational interest in high altitude physiology and served as the supporting physician on a number of Himalayan expeditions in both Nepal and Tibet.
In his new role, Rosen will supervise the UVM College of Medicine education programs in the WCHN, which includes Danbury Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and New Milford Hospital, in collaboration with UVM College of Medicine and WCHN leadership, as well as clerkship directors and other stakeholders. He will work closely with Tania Bertsch, M.D., UVM associate dean for clinical education, and will focus on ensuring comparability among educational objectives, instruction, assessments and student services, and all required educational components, policies and procedures of the medical college. Rosen will be responsible for building on the successful UVM education programs already established, leveraging the strengths of WCHN to customize the curricular emphasis on public and community health, and global health.
