(JULY 31, 2022) In response to statistics showing that lung cancer kills more Vermonters than breast, prostate, and colorectal cancers combined, family medicine professor John King, M.D., and colleagues at the UVM and Dartmouth Cancer Centers are spearheading a new community education program called Vermonters Taking Action Against Cancer, the (Nashua, N.H.) Telegraph reported.

(JULY 31, 2022) In response to statistics showing that lung cancer kills more Vermonters — and more Americans overall — than breast, prostate, and colorectal cancers combined, Professor of Family Medicine John King, M.D., and colleagues at the UVM Cancer Center and the Dartmouth Cancer Center are spearheading a new community education program called Vermonters Taking Action Against Cancer, the (Nashua, N.H.) Telegraph reported.

“The goal of this program is to significantly widen awareness among eligible Vermonters of the proven life-saving benefits of lung cancer screening,” said project co-leader Rian M. Hasson, M.D., thoracic surgeon at Dartmouth Cancer Center and assistant professor of surgery at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine.

“We are also working closely with health care teams to make sure conversations about these screenings are a regular and routine part of health care in Vermont, and patients can get them in a timely fashion,” added project co-leader King.
