This week, the University of Vermont's Dana Medical Library, in conjunction with representatives from the UVM Larner College of Medicine Office of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, the Office of Medical Communications, and medical students from the College's Student National Medical Association, Latino Medical Student Association, Social Justice Coalition, and the gender & Sexuality Alliance launched a digital resource collection called "Together We Learn."
"Together We Learn" is a continually updated collection of resources including articles, blog posts, books, videos, podcasts, and websites which can help community members deepen their understanding of systemic and institutionalized racism in the United States, anti-racism work, social determinants of health, and more.
The group writes, "Educating ourselves is just one small step in this important work and we hope the resources provided on this platform will further our colleagues' collective understanding of diversity-related issues so that we can take meaningful action to address them in impactful ways in our own community and beyond."
This collection was adapted from the New York University collection and created by medical students Sam Epstein'21, Richard Brach'22, Michael Lawler'23, Akua Frimpong'23, Lud Habtu'23, Emerson Wheeler'22, Victor Abraham'23, Nikkole Turgeon'22, and Director of the Office of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Tiffany Delaney, MA.Ed., Interim Director of the Dana Medical Library Gary Atwood, MA, MSLIS, Dana Medical Library administrative professional Kate Bright, and the College's digital content manager Michelle Bookless.
