Course Description

Please join us for this half-day conference featuring UVM Health Network Faculty - Drs. Elizabeth Ames, Kaitlyn Barrett, Teresa Fama and Jennifer Kelly, and Augusta Wilson, RN. This conference is designed to improve the skills of the primary care team as they are often the first to encounter patients who have, or who are at risk of developing, osteoporosis. The objective of this conference is to equip attendees with updated knowledge on issues related to osteoporosis and to provide practical and updated strategies for assessment and treatment.

  • Determining Fracture Risk
  • Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines
  • An Orthopedist's Perspective on Osteoporosis and Fracture

Objectives

  • Identify which patients are at risk for fracture and should be screened appropriately.
  • Determine which available osteoporosis medication is best to use in a particular situation.
  • Distinguish between the different mechanisms of action used to treat osteoporosis and their potential side effects.

Primary Care physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other members of the primary care team.

Refunds

Refunds, less an administrative fee of $25, will be made only if notice of cancellation is received in writing by October 23, 2020. Refunds are not possible after that date.
