Continuing Medical and Interprofessional Education

Claude Deschamps, M.D., president and CEO of the University of Vermont Health Network Medical Group (UVMHN Medical Group) and senior associate dean for clinical affairs at the Larner College of Medicine has announced that Cheung Wong, MD, associate professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences, has accepted the role of associate vice president for clinical affairs for the UVM Health Network Medical Group.

In this role, Wong will have primary responsibility for overseeing quality; developing strategies for value-based care and population health for UVMHN Medical Group specialty services in collaboration with OneCare Accountable Care Organization; and provide oversight of clinical programs for the UVMHN Medical Group. Wong will report directly to the president and CEO and work closely with Network Medical Group Executive Director Jeff Wasserman, senior physician leaders and network executives.

“Cheung’s experience as a clinician and as a leader, his prior collaborations across departments and institutions, his commitment to improving the quality of patient care, and his understanding of the importance of building a team across professions makes him ideally suited to this role,” said Deschamps in an announcement about Wong’s new role.

A gynecologic oncologist, Wong has served in multiple leadership roles at the university, academic medical center and in the network, including as director of gynecologic oncology and urogynecology at UVM Medical Center, vice chair of gynecology, associate dean for Continuing Medical and Interprofessional Education at UVM’s Larner College of Medicine, and as chair of the Network Robotic Surgery Advisory Committee.

Wong’s start date has not yet been determined.
