Overview

This intensive four-day program for family physicians, advance practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, and other primary care professionals will focus on current issues in the practice of Family Medicine, with special attention to new contributions. Emphasis is on practical, clinically applicable diagnostic and management issues in primary care. The course faculty is drawn from multiple specialties, including Family Medicine. The teaching program includes lectures and extensive course materials.

Objectives

  1. Review current recommendations for breast cancer screening, cardiac testing, anxiety disorders and substance use disorders.
  2. Discuss what we've learned from COVID-19, the implications of racism in healthcare, cases from urgent care and contraceptive counseling.
  3. Participate in workshops including End of Life care, Cardiology Cases, Counseling Patients with Alcohol and Substance Use disorders, and Yogic Techniques to Improve Breathing.
  4. Discuss important updates for the management of diabetes, liver disease, osteoporosis, and the pediatric medical home.

The AAFP has reviewed 47th Annual Family Medicine Review Course and deemed it acceptable for up to 20.50 Online Only, Live AAFP Prescribed credit. Term of Approval is from 06/08/2021 to 06/11/2021. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This course has been approved for 17.50 hours of pharmacy continuing education credit. The approval number issued is: JA0000335-0000-21-018-L04-P 

1.5 credits for Hospice, Palliative Care, Pain Management for "Talk Vermont: End of Life Conversations" on Wed., June 9.
1.0 credit for Prescribing Controlled Substances for "Opiate Use Disorder Treatment" on Thurs., June 10.
.75 credit for Hospice, Palliative Care, Pain Management for "Transition to Hospice Care" on Thurs., June 10.

 “Best of 2020 Family Medicine Review Course Lectures”  - Thirteen of the “best” of the 2020 Family Medicine Review Course presentations have been edited and are available for accredited, on-demand learning.  This includes 2.0 Credits “Hospice, Palliative Care, Pain Management” and 1.0 credit in “Prescribing Controlled Substances”.  Those who attended the live conference in October 2020 can access at a steeply discounted price.

 Pre-purchase access to accredited recordings from this year’s course, in case you miss a lecture or would like to “revisit” an important topic in the future.  Note that while we intend to record all lectures, it is possible that speakers may not approve or the recording will not be usable so we cannot guarantee complete conference access. 

REFUNDS: Refunds may be obtained, minus an administrative fee of $75, if notice of cancellation is received in writing by May 18, 2021. Refunds are not available after that date, but substitutions may be possible by calling the CMIE office at 802-656-2292.
