About Us

Perhaps the greatest challenge in biomedical research is being able to effectively and efficiently translate the knowledge acquired from basic science investigations into viable clinical interventions. Our approach to the “Translational Dilemma” is to harness the power of advanced simulation methods with cutting edge computational tools, such as machine learning and evolutionary computation, while utilizing some of the world’s most powerful high-performance computing platforms. We are a multi-disciplinary team consisting of physicians, physicists, and computational scientists; this span of expertise provides us the range of perspectives to address the complex challenges of turning experimental information into actionable knowledge. Our projects (see below) extend from highly detailed modeling of specific organ systems and disease processes to the identification of fundamental properties of complex biomedical systems to the development of methods for computation-aided therapeutic discovery.
