Policy Statement


To graduate from the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont during the COVID-19 pandemic, class of 2021 degree candidates must fulfill Policy 565.45 - Graduation Degree Requirements with the following amendments:

  1. USMLE Step 2 CS is not required
  2. Satisfactorily complete the following minimum Advanced Integration Level course requirements:
    1. Acting Internship in Internal Medicine (4 weeks)
    2. Acting Internship of student’s choice (4 weeks)
    3. Emergency Medicine (2 weeks)
    4. Surgical Subspecialties (2 weeks)
    5. Teaching Practicum or Scholarly Project (4 weeks)
    6. Electives (32 weeks)

Furthermore:

  1. USMLE Step 2 CS is not required for class of 2022 degree candidates.
  2. Members of the class of 2023 enrolled in Foundations Year Two during academic year 2020-2021 are exempted from the requirement to pass the End of Foundations Clinical Skills Exam.
