Please join Dr. John King and other faculty and local experts for the 2nd Annual Wilderness Medicine Conference! The conference will once again follow the Family Medicine Review Course, October 8, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel (formerly the Sheraton).

New - Virtual Option Is Available!

Two attendance options will be available for this meeting: physically distant seating for those who prefer to attend in person, or streaming for those who prefer remote attendance (which will provide the same opportunity to ask questions).  *Please note, if you are viewing virtually, you will not be able to participate in the hands-on sessions at the end of the day.

Objectives

1. Learn methods to improve safety in wilderness travel.

2. Discuss and ask questions about challenging backcountry scenarios with experienced medical personnel.

3. Practice potentially life and disability saving procedures for immobilization and transport in remote settings.

Audience

Target audience includes: Physicians, Nurses, EMTs, Paramedics, Other Primary Care Providers.

Accreditation

Jointly Accredited Provider TMIn support of improving patient care, The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The University of Vermont designates this live activity for a maximum of 8 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This program has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 8 Nursing Contact Hours.

Determination of Pharmacotherapeutic Credit is pending.

We will be offering EMT credit this year!

Accommodations

A block of rooms has been reserved at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Burlington, Vermont (formerly the Sheraton). Please make your reservations directly with the hotel, 855-686-8875, prior to September 13, 2020, and indicate your participation in the course to receive special conference rates ($148 per day single to quad occupancy). Room rates cannot be guaranteed after September 13, 2020 and are based on availability.

Syllabus

The conference syllabus will be available as a PDF download. Please plan to bring your laptop or electronic device to view presentations as well as completing the electronic conference evaluations via the UVM CMIE MyCredits portal. You will receive a notification (about a week from the conference start date) that presentations are available for downloading via the email address you used to register for this conference.

Advance Practice Professionals (NP, PA) - $225

Others - $175

Discounted Fees for Virtual Attendance:

Enrollment is limited; please register by September 10, 2020. After September 10, the tuition increases by $50. Walk-in registration may be welcome if there is space and will incur an additional $50 fee.

Refunds

Refunds, less an administrative fee of $75, will be made only if notice of cancellation is received in writing by September 17, 2020. Refunds are not possible after that date.
