45th Annual Family Medicine Review Course 

Course Description

This intensive four-day program for family physicians, advance practice providers, nurses, and other primary care professionals will focus on current issues in the practice of Family Medicine, with special attention to new contributions. Emphasis is on practical, clinically applicable diagnostic and management issues in primary care. The course faculty is drawn from multiple specialties, including Family Medicine. The teaching program includes lectures, workshops and extensive course materials.

  • Geriatric Psychiatry Case Files
  • Integrating Opiate Use Disorder Management into a Patient Centered Medical Home

After attending this conference, participants should be able to:

  1. Review current recommendations for well child visits, HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), treatment of hyperlipidemia, genitourinary issues of menopause and congestive heart failure.
  2. Discuss important updates for the management of diabetes Type 1 and 2, The Male Preventative Exam, medical marijuana and treatment of opiate addiction.
  3. Participate in workshops on Palliative Care, EKG Cases, Care of Transgender Patients, Therapeutic applications of Yoga, Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) and shoulder and knee examinations.
  4. Discuss 10 practice changers for 2019, common eye issues, management of abnormal vaginal bleeding, and common pediatric skin conditions.

The University of Vermont designates this live activity for a maximum of 21 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This program has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 21 Nursing Contact Hours.

This live activity, 45th Annual Family Medicine Review Course, with a beginning date of 06/04/2019, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 21.00 Prescribed credit(s) by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.


The conference syllabus will be available as an electronic download with presentations as PDF files (included with your registration fee).  Please plan to bring your laptop or electronic device with you to the conference to view both the conference materials as well as to complete the online conference evaluations via the UVM CMIE credit system. You will receive an email notification (via the email you used to register for this conference) about a week prior to the conference start date that presentations will be available for downloading. Please note: printed syllabus, paper copies of evaluations and paper CMIE certificates will no longer be provided.


Registrants will participate in 2 of 8 workshops to be conducted on Wednesday afternoon. The fun and innovative format of these sessions will focus on different approaches to a myriad of clinical problems. The presentations will raise important management issues which will facilitate lively interaction between faculty and participants. There is limited enrollment in some workshops. Every effort will be made to provide registrants with their top choices.

We will be having a poster presentation session on Thursday, June 6, 2019 on Vermont Day of the Family Medicine Review Course. Please send us your ideas for a poster by using the link below. A PowerPoint template is available (contact for a copy) and the UVM Department of Family Medicine will peer review the submissions and cover the cost of printing the first 20 accepted posters. Please distribute widely to your staff, residents, and students. To submit an idea for poster presentation consideration, submit  by May 10, 2019.

Registration Fee Summary

  • $640 Physicians (MD, DO, ND)
  • $440 Residents*, Nurses, and Other Health Professionals

The course fee includes tuition, comprehensive electronic course syllabus, continental breakfast each morning, coffee breaks, and luncheon on Thursday for registrants.

Enrollment is limited; please register by May 13, 2019. An additional $75 will be added after that date. *Verification by Program Director Required. Refunds, less a $75 administrative fee, are available if cancellation is made prior to May 13, 2019. No refunds are possible after that date.
