Who Should Attend? Professionals and Caregivers

The conference is designed to present topics and information relevant for both family and professional caregivers who work with our population of older adults. This is the third year that the conference will be open to family caregivers.

Keynote Presentation

Joseph E. Gaugler, PhD

Robert L. Kane Endowed Chair in Long-Term Care and Aging

Gaugler Joseph PhD

Dr. Gaugler's research examines the sources and effectiveness of long-term care for persons with Alzheimer's Disease and other chronic conditions. An applied gerontologist, Dr. Gaugler's interests include Alzheimer's disease and long-term care, the longitudinal ramifications of family care for persons with dementia and psychosocial services for older adults with dementia and their caregiving families. Underpinning these substantive areas, Dr. Gaugler also has interests in mixed methods and implementation science.

Dr. Gaugler's keynote address: Driving the Science Forward: Finding the Voices of People Living with Dementia and Their Caregivers in Research will focus on elevating and maintaining the voice of persons living with dementia. 



Accreditation

Jointly Accredited Provider TMIn support of improving patient care, the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

This program has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 5.5 nursing contact hours.

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 5.5 continuing education credits.

The Vermont Office of Professional Regulation has approved this program for 5.5 continuing education credit hours for Nursing Home Administrators.

The Vermont Office of Professional Regulation has approved this program for 5.0 continuing education credit hours for Allied Mental Health Practitioners.
