Firestone Medical Research Building
Ensuring the Future of Research at UVM
Biomedical science and technology change people’s lives for the better. Physicians and scientists at the University of Vermont are key agents of that change — spurring world-class developments in the areas of cardiovascular, cancer, neurobehavioral,
and health care delivery research.
This is a place where real innovation and progress is being made. Continuing that progress means investing in the future by building flexible, collaborative spaces that share resources efficiently and support performance and growth of our research
enterprise.
With this in mind, the Board of Trustees of the University of Vermont in January 2020 approved the funding of the Firestone Medical Research Building, following the lead philanthropic gift of Steve Firestone, M.D., a graduate of the UVM Larner College
of Medicine Class of 1969, in honor of his parents and his medical classmates. The building is located adjacent to the Health Sciences Research Facility (HSRF). Construction began in the fall of 2020 with occupancy projected to occur in the winter
of 2023.
