About the Women's Health and Cancer Conference

The University of Vermont (UVM) Cancer Center's annual Women's Health and Cancer Conference, now in its 26th year, is a free, educational event aimed at empowering and supporting individuals and communities with knowledge about cancer prevention, detection, treatment and survivorship.

Participants can expect to:

  • Access the latest, evidence-based information about cancer prevention and detection;
  • Learn about treatment options across a range of cancers;
  • Gain information about support and wellness options to enhance survivorship; and
  • Feel inspired and supported!

In 2022, the Courtney and Victoria Buffum Family Foundation gave $1 million to create the Patti O’Brien, MD Women’s Health and Cancer Fund which will support the conference into the future. Read more about this endowment here.

What participants are saying:

This event is for anyone interested in learning more about women's health and cancer - patients, survivors, health care professionals, caregivers and the general public. Regardless of your age, gender, or cancer experience, this event will provide a supportive learning experience.

Professional development for health care continues to be a priority for this event. There are opportunities for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists, radiologic technologists, social workers and others to strengthen their base of knowledge and earn credits.

"I thought it was wonderful to be able to be virtual and yet also have great video of the conference goers. I loved that during the Q and A I could see people around the room--it gave me a sense of "being there" even though I was remote."
-- a virtual participant and 2022 conference attendee

""adding to my general knowledge base for patient care and enhanced understanding of their disease/personal needs."
-- a provider and 2022 conference attendee

"I loved getting the acupuncture ‘sample’. I had always hesitated to go because I don’t like needles, but this was not bad and even in a noisy room I was able to relax and benefit… I will look further into using acupuncture now.” "
-- a patient and 2022 conference attendee
