Patricia Fontaine, MACP

 With masters in Counseling Psychology and Transformative Language Arts, Patricia Fontaine has been facilitating workshops for many years. As someone with a complex cancer story, she is particularly interested in art and writing as a creative refuge for those living with cancer. She recently self-published a book of cancer poems, Lifting My Shirt, and two collections of student work, Healing Art & Writing: Using Creativity To Meet Illness.

Kathy McBeth, MA

Kathy is a Licensed Psychologist, with a focus on health psychology and adjustment to illness. Kathy is two-time cancer survivor and has been involved with the Women's Health and Cancer Conference for a number of years, first as an attendee, then as a presenter. She is a board member of the Northern New England Clinical Oncology Society, a member of the American Psychosocial Oncology Society, on the steering committee for Vermonters Taking Action Against Cancer, on the Nursing & Allied Health Professional Advisory Committee, and the vice-president of the Stowe Weekend of Hope.

Evelyn Cantillo, MD, MPH

Dr. Cantillo is an OB/GYN at the University of Vermont Medical Center. She completed her MD at the Albery Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University, completed her Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tulane University School of Medicine, and her Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Women and Infant's Hospital of Rhode Island.

Peter Kaufman, MD*

Dr. Peter Kaufman is a Professor of Medicine at the UVM Larner College of Medicine and UVM Cancer Center member. He obtained his MD degree from the New York University School of Medicine. He then completed an internship, residency, and a hematology/oncology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. He later joined the Section of Hematology/Oncology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and the Norris Cotton Cancer Center (NCCC) as the Director of the Comprehensive Breast Cancer Program. Dr. Kaufman is an active clinician and specializes in the care and treatment of patients with breast cancer. He is also a member of the Molecular Therapeutics Program at NCCC and is oversees a number of research activities and projects in breast cancer.

Havaleh Gagne, MD

Dr. Gagne is a radiation oncologist in the Department of Radiation Medicine at UVM Medical Center. Her specialties include breast, gynecology, head and neck and lung malignancies. Dr. Gagne works with Dr. Fram and his colleagues to see new and established patients at CVMC.

According to Dr. Gagne, "Radiation Oncology found me more than I found it.” Early on in medical school, she discovered that no matter what branch of medicine she was studying, she loved Oncology patients and this specialized branch of Cancer Care. Her favorite part of practicing medicine is meeting patients and working with them to create a therapeutic treatment plan that fits their goals and what they can do and tolerate.

Donald Weaver, MD*

 

Dr. Weaver is a Pathologist at the UVM Medical Center, a Professor of Pathology at the UVM Larner College of Medicine, a member of the UVM Cancer Center, and the 2019 recipient for the UVM Larner College of Medicine Alumni Award for Distinguished Academic Achievement. His clinical interests include breast cancer, and he conducts extensive research on prognostic factors in breast cancer and population-based breast cancer screening.

Karen Lounsbury, PhD*

Dr. Lounsbury is a professor of pharmacology at the Larner College of Medicine, and was recently appointed the director of Foundations in the Office of Medical Student Education. A Master Teacher in college's Teaching Academy, Dr. Lounsbury teaches in Neural Sciences, Foundations of Clinical Science, and Human Development and Reproductive Health. She is also a leader in the Cannabis Science and Medicine research group at UVM, and a member of the UVM Cancer Center.

Ali Waltien, CCLS

Ali Waltien is a certified child life specialist funded by the Children’s Miracle Network to work in the University of Vermont Medical Center and Children’s Hospital. Ali started her child life career working with pediatric patients facing a wide range of medical interventions at University of Vermont Children’s Hospital, before evolving her role to fit the needs of adult patients with children. Ali provides developmentally appropriate education and emotional support to youth to help them cope with serious illness in the family, as well as providing opportunities for self-expression through a range of therapeutic activities.

Leslie Langevin, MS, RD, CD

 Leslie is a born and raised Vermonter. She attended the University of Vermont for her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Dietetics and Nutrition. She loves to do yoga, garden and cook! Turning food into a fun vehicle for health is why she wanted to become a dietitian. She has a wonderful family that includes husband Eric and two boys. She believes in balance and moderation, there is always room for some fun food in any healthy food plan. She strives to help patients balance the "should have" with their food wants, and recipes to help make this happen.

Amy Littlefield, ND, MSOM, LAc, FABNO 

Amy Littlefield is a graduate of the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Her residency at Clifton Springs Hospital in New York helped her to cultivate her gift for bridging the gap between high quality conventional medical care and naturopathic medicine. She is board certified through the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology. She works collaboratively with patients being treated for cancer and their oncology team to provide optimal clinical outcomes through integrative oncology care opportunities.
