Christine Velez, PhD, MSW

 Christine Velez is an Assistant Professor in the Social Work Department at the University of Vermont. Her   practice experience includes school social work, Latina/o/x community services, refugee resettlement and   developmental disabilities services. Dr. Velez has experience with a variety of social science research   methodologies in both quantitative and qualitative methods,  including critical, anti-oppressive, anti-   racist and feminist approaches. Dr. Velez is the co-PI of a federal HRSA training grant for diversifying the   behavioral health workforce (VT TREE program) and most recently has taken on the training director position for VT LEND. 

 Dr. Velez’s current research projects are focused on reproductive and environmental justice issues. She is   currently working on projects anchored in health equity for racially and ethnically diverse populations. Dr.   Velez teaches research methods and has experience teaching policy, HBSE and practice courses in social   work. Dr. Velez is especially interested in the infusion of critical race theories and Intersectionality content into social work education curricula.
