Perinatal Transport Conferences are maternal-fetal and neonatal case reviews of patients shared between the community hospital and Fletcher Allen Health Care. The goal of this collaborative conference is to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes. The case reviews include the patient’s history, care delivered (pre-transport, inter-transport and post-transport) and outcomes. Group discussion emphasizes quality improvement, while reviewing systems issues related to care-coordination, patient care protocols and guidelines and emerging changes in high quality perinatal care. These conferences take place in the community hospitals of Vermont and northeastern New York.
The faculty participating in the perinatal transport conferences includes a maternal-fetal specialist, neonatologist, and a perinatal nurse. Community hospital participants include (but are not limited to) obstetricians, pediatricians, family practice physicians, nurse midwifes, perinatal nurses, unit nurse managers, and department of health nurses.
Perinatal Transport Conferences typically run for 2 hours. Continuing Medical Education credit and Contact Hours are available for physicians and nurses attending the conferences.
