Rebecca Wilcox, M.D., professor of pathology and laboratory medicine and associate dean for faculty affairs at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont, has been selected as a member of the 2022-2023 class of fellows participating in the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine® (ELAM) Program at Drexel University College of Medicine.

Katie Huggett and Jon WiscoKathryn Huggett, PhD received the Distinguished Career Award for Excellence in Teaching and Educational Scholarship from the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE). The Distinguished Career Award for Excellence in Teaching and Educational Scholarship recognizes an IAMSE member who has a distinguished record of educational scholarship, including educational research and dissemination of scholarly approaches to teaching and education. Katie was honored at the Annual IAMSE Meeting in June, pictured here with Jon Wisco, PhD.

If you attended a Teaching Academy event this academic year, please claim credit for all sessions you attended, no later than July 31, 2022. MyCredits If you need further assistance, please contact Karen Whitcomb at the CMIE office either by phone or by email. Her email is karen.whitcomb@med.uvm.edu and the office number is 802-656-2292. 

It is also time to complete the Overall Series Survey. These surveys are extremely helpful in planning the upcoming year and the CMIE office uses the summative data to maintain their accreditation. We appreciate you taking the time to complete the Overall Series Survey.

Please use the following directions to find and complete the Overall Series Survey:

  • Log into My Credits
  • If the system does not take you immediately to the My Credits page, click on Dashboard in upper left corner, Click on My Credit in Credits box
  • All Regularly Scheduled Series (RSS) you attended will be listed on the My Credits page.  You will need to complete an Event Evaluation for each RSS activity you attended.  Click on Complete Event Evaluation to complete the form.

Regional/National Call for Proposals 

Edward J. Stemmler, M.D. Medical Education Research Fund 2022-2023 call for Letters of Intent

PURPOSE and GOALS: The purpose of the Stemmler Fund is to provide support for research and development in innovative assessment methodologies or techniques, with the potential to advance assessment in medical education or practice.  Expected outcomes include advances in the theory, knowledge, or practice of assessment at any point along the continuum of medical education, from undergraduate and graduate education and training through practice.  Both pilots and more comprehensive projects are of interest. Collaborative investigations within or among institutions are eligible and encouraged, particularly as they strengthen the likelihood of the project's contribution and success.
ELIGIBILITY: Eligible applicants for Stemmler Fund grant awards are medical schools accredited by the LCME or the AOA.  The number of Letters of Intent submitted by any eligible school is not limited.   • Medical Students Showcase Public Health Projects at Celebration

    While public health concerns like teen e-cigarette use, blood donation recruitment, and ensuring quality senior care existed prior to the pandemic, many have become of greater concern over the past two years. Class of 2025 Larner College of Medicine medical students dug into these and other health and social issues as part of their Public Health Projects course, revealing important findings that will help shape policy and direction for numerous social service agencies in the region.
