NEGEA Awards
NEGEA Excellence in Medical Education Awards
A maximum of eight Excellence in Medical Education Awards will be given at the conference: four in the poster category and four in the oral abstract presentation category. All poster submissions and oral abstract presentations will be considered.
Each poster or oral presentation will be evaluated by three judges using a scoring rubric that includes criteria such as:
- Quality of the research question/hypothesis
- Clarity of objectives
- Soundness of conclusions
- Quality of the visual or oral abstract presentation
Posters
Members of the abstract subcommittee and the NEGEA awards committee will review all abstracts accepted in the poster category prior to the conference. Up to eight finalists will be chosen. All finalists will be notified prior to the conference and listed in the program. Poster judging will occur during the poster session on Thursday. Up to four poster awardees will be presented on Friday morning.
Oral Abstract Presentations
Members of the NEGEA awards committee will review all abstracts accepted in the oral abstract presentation category prior to the conference. Up to eight finalists will be chosen. Finalists will be notified in advance of the conference and listed in the program. All finalists will be judged during their oral abstract presentation at the conference. Up to four oral abstract awardees will be presented on Saturday morning.

The NEGEA supports and encourages innovative approaches to medical education. Innovation is defined as the introduction or development of a new method, process, approach or technological application that provides a solution to a problem.
The NEGEA will provide one award of $3,000 to recognize a faculty member in an NEGEA-affiliated school who has developed an outstanding innovation in medical education.
NEGEA M. Brownell "Brownie" Award for Emerging Medical Educators
In the spirit of M. Brownell “Brownie” Anderson, the GEA recognizes early-career medical educators who have demonstrated enthusiasm, commitment, and creativity in the field of medical education across the continuum. This award identifies and supports emerging educators on their career trajectory in medical education and serves as an opportunity to celebrate their potential and talent.
