Molecular Physiology and Biophysics

In this installment of the APS Living History of Physiology series, Edith D. Hendley, PhD, talks about growing up in New York City during the Depression, the influential people in her career and being a founder of the Association for Women in Science. Hendley offers this advice to students: “Love what you do, find a supportive person to work with and don’t choose the big, mecca universities; you get swallowed up in them. You’re much better off in a small, excellent school.” Hendley was interviewed by David Warshaw, PhD, at the University of Vermont in Burlington.
