My research interest lies in studying mechanisms of asbestos fibers-induced cell injury in lung. We are focusing on the role of different isozyme of PKCs in asbestos-induced apoptosis. The particular isoform of our interest at this point is PKC delta, as it has been shown to be proapoptotic in various cell types and brings about its apoptotic effects by manipulating mitochondrial functions.
