Academic and Clinical Excellence

The clinical and basic science interests of our faculty range from nosocomial infections to rural HIV/AIDS epidemiology. We teach residents, undergraduates, medical and graduate students, and have a fellowship program for infectious disease careers. Our specialty clinic serves patients including travelers and refugees, and is one of four sites for the Comprehensive Care Clinics of Vermont. Our collaboration with the state includes tuberculosis management and influenza and bioterrorism preparedness.

Research & Education

Our faculty engage students and trainees in the classroom, the clinic, and in research settings. Graduate students and fellows conduct their work in our research laboratories, including:

Vermont Center for Immunology and Infectious Diseases

The collaborative expertise of the Immunobiology, Microbiology and Infectious Disease faculty promotes studies of the immune response to infectious agents, including viruses, bacteria, parasites, and microbial pathogenesis at the Vermont Center for Immunology and Infectious Diseases (COBRE).

Vaccine Testing Center

With the goal of protecting global health, our Vaccine Testing Center researchers work to improve existing while developing new vaccines.
