Seeking to define the genes and signal pathways involved with immune responses to infection and autoimmune diseases...
Welcome to the website for the Immunobiology Program at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. The program consists of a core of three faculty with six associate members from other departments. Interests include:
Associate faculty interests include asthma, transplantation and tolerance, viral immunity, and maternal/fetal immunology. Considerable collaboration also occurs with the famous Trudeau Institute in nearby Saranac Lake, NY whose members have expertise in immune memory and in vivo infectious disease models.
The Immunobiology faculty share a Program Project Grant with the Trudeau Institute on molecular mechanisms of Th1/Th2 development. This has just been renewed for another 5 years. There is also much support from state-of-the-art core facilities which includes a new transgenic/knockout facility, two new flow cytometers (BD Aria and LSR II), cell imaging laboratory, DNA sequencing, structural biology, microarray, and bioinformatics. In addition to several NIH grants, we also have been funded through the Arthritis Foundation.
There are numerous graduate students from the Cell and Molecular Biology Program, as well as many postdoctoral fellows. We meet for weekly lab meetings, journal club, and seminar series.
The menu at left contains more details on our faculty and their research, staff, students, postdoctoral fellows, and facilities.
