The faculty of the Division of Dermatology are engaged in a wide range of clinical research studies. At present, Dr. Goldman and Dr. Krusinski are principal investigators in major pharmaceutical research studies, using biological response modifiers to treat actinic keratoses and psoriasis. We have a full-time clinical research coordinator and staff to support major pharmaceutical research studies, and resident participation in these studies is welcomed. Basic science research opportunities are readily available through contacts with the basic science divisions in molecular biology, biochemistry, pathology, and physiology. The College of Medicine has NIH-funded Cancer, Clinical Research, and Obesity and Nutrition Research Centers. The University of Vermont College of Medicine is an outstanding institution that works in close collaboration with Fletcher Allen Health Care. Residents work closely with medical students who rotate through the Division of Dermatology.

Fletcher Allen Health Care serves as the regional referral center for a population base of approximately 800,000 people, allowing trainees to care for patients with a wide spectrum of common medical illnesses, as well as evaluate and manage patients with more unusual illnesses from the referral population.
