(FEBRUARY 14, 2023) In an opinion piece published in VTDigger, psychiatry resident Nat Mulkey, M.D., clinical instructor of psychiatry, discusses his feelings of sadness, defensiveness, and discomfort at the negative portrayals of the local health care system in the news and elsewhere.

Part of his discomfort, he writes, is “an intense need to say: We care! … There are things, big, varied and uncontrollable, that affect everyone’s ability to do the ideal. That is one thing I know we can all agree on. Because we care, we know this is not ideal. And we are sorry; we wish it were different.”
