(JULY 26, 2022) Emily Bruce, Ph.D., assistant professor of microbiology and molecular genetics, was one of several experts interviewed for a news story in the journal “Nature” on what scientists know so far about COVID-19 infectiousness.

(JULY 26, 2022) Emily Bruce, Ph.D., assistant professor of microbiology and molecular genetics, was one of several experts interviewed for a news story in the journal Nature on what scientists know so far about COVID-19 infectiousness. Numerous studies have confirmed that many people with COVID-19 remain infectious well into the second week after they first experience symptoms. “It’s very unusual for people to stay infectious after ten days,” Bruce said, but PCR-based studies of infectiousness show that a small number of people could still be infectious beyond that point.
