It was a beautiful fall day of education and inspiration at the 22nd annual Women’s Health and Cancer Conference. More than 800 patients, providers, exhibitors and family members took part in this one-day, free event.

Nikoletta Sidiropoulos, MD, kicked off the conference with a keynote presentation titled Genomic Medicine: A Cornerstone of Precision Cancer Care. Patients and providers alike participated in the lecture before dispersing to take part in additional 64 educational sessions ranging from small group “coffee chats” for young survivors, to culinary demonstrations for whole-health nutrition, to in-depth accredited presentations for our healthcare teams of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists, and others. Topics for professionals included Cardiac Complications of Cancer Care; Immunotherapy: On the Cutting Edge of Cancer Therapy, and many more!

Some cancers that most often affect women are breast, colorectal, endometrial, lung, cervical, skin, and ovarian cancers. Knowing about these cancers and what you can do to help prevent them or find them early (when they are small and easier to treat) may help save your life, and sharing your newfound information can help save the lives of your loved ones. For more information about common cancers that affect women and screening guidelines, please visit the Women’s Health and Cancer Conference website

We hope that you will take a moment now to save the date for next year’s conference:  Friday, October 2, 2020! Please email Jacqueline Lawler at Jacqueline.Lawler@med.uvm.edu if you’d like to receive email updates about the conference.
