Health Care Ombudsman

The Office of Health Care Ombudsman is a new statewide program to help Vermonters resolve problems and complaints with their health insurance. The office is staffed with full time health care counselors and the state health care ombudsman. The services are available to all Vermonters, regardless of income or resources or type of health insurance. The staff can help with: access to health Insurance, access to health care, denials of care, billing problems, or complaints and appeals. The Office of Health Care Ombudsman can help answer questions, give referrals, provide educational materials, give advice and assistance in resolving complaints, and give assistance in appeals and fair hearings. All the services are free.
