Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

1-800-772-1213

Supplemental Security Income assists low-income children who are disabled or blind. A child under 18 may be found disabled if he/she has a physical or mental impairment that is comparable in severity to one that would prevent an adult from working, and that is expected to last 12 months or result in death. Parental income and resources are considered in determining financial eligibility. In New York State, all SSI recipients receive Medicaid benefits.
