Family Infant Toddler Project (FITP)

P. O. Box 70
Burlington , Vermont 05402
1-800-660-4427

The Family, Infant Toddler Project recognizes the benefit of early childhood services for young children who have a delay in development or a health condition that may lead to a delay in development. The project is responsible for bringing together supports and resources to meet each child's unique needs and the needs of their family in their home and community. The FITP offers you opportunities to talk with other parents in your community, consult with child development professionals and learn about the range of resources available. These resources include: help obtaining and coordination community services and support, toys and equipment to assist children with challenges in their environment, ways to identify how best to assist each child to grow and learn, a trained home visitor to assist children and families, health services, hearing services, nutrition assistance, physical and occupational therapy, respite assisting children with speech and language skills, support from other parents, transportation assistance, and vision services. All families are eligible for information and referral, regardless of income or where in Vermont they live. The state has been divided into twelve regions. Each region has selected a "host agency" to accept referrals for the project. Core team members are available in each region to take referrals to initiate the referral process. Call the above telephone number to obtain the "host agency" name and telephone number for your region.
