Wilkinson Delivers Imbasciani-DiSalvo LGBTQ Health Equity Lecture

Award-winning, mixed heritage, Asian American, transgender writer, public health consultant, and cultural competency trainer Willy Wilkinson, M.P.H., presented the 2019 Vito Imbasciani, Ph.D., M.D.'85 and George DiSalvo LGBTQ Health Equity Lecture, titled “Advancing Trans-Affirming Care in a Changing Healthcare Landscape,” on October 3.
Award-winning, mixed heritage, Asian American, transgender writer, public health consultant, and cultural competency trainer Willy Wilkinson, M.P.H., presented the 2019 Vito Imbasciani, Ph.D., M.D.'85 and George DiSalvo LGBTQ Health Equity Lecture, titled “Advancing Trans-Affirming Care in a Changing Healthcare Landscape,” on Thursday, October 3 at the Larner College of Medicine. 

Wilkinson is the author of the Lambda Literary Award-winning book Born on the Edge of Race and Gender: A Voice for Cultural Competency, which illuminates trans experience within a Chinese American and mixed heritage framework, and transforms the memoir genre into a cultural competency tool. He is the recipient of a National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association award, and the Transgender Law Center Vanguard Award, and is recognized on the Trans 100. In addition, he has served as founding board member for both the Transgender Law Center and Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center, and has participated in numerous advisory boards and committees. Wilkinson earned a Master of Public Health degree from UC Berkeley, and a B.A. degree in women’s studies from UC Santa Cruz. He lives in Oakland, Calif., with his three vibrant, young children.
