Computer Recommendations
The College of Medicine recommends Dell business machines for our computer standards. Dell Latitude for a laptop and Dell Optiplex for a desktop.
The current models are:
Laptop:
Latitude E4310 and E6410 laptop are the models that we recommend. Others available are (E6510 and E4210).
E4310 model has a 13" LCD display with full processor speed, internal DVD drive and a slim light weight of 3.3 lbs. This unit can be purchased with a full docking station setup for convenience of taking the laptop with you without having to unplug anything.
E6410 model has a 14" LCD display with full processor speed, internal DVD drive and a slim light weight of 4.3 lbs. This unit can be purchased with a full docking station setup for convenience of taking the laptop with you without having to unplug anything.
Latitude Tablet XT2
XT2 model has a 12" LCD display that will allow you to rotate the screen to use as a multi-touch screen and pen interface and still only 3.6 lbs.
Desktop:
Optiplex 780 Desktop is the model that we recommend. We also suggest the 780 Tower for those of you that require special expansion cards to be installed.
Optiplex 780 is an energy efficient desktop used for business purposes.
