Advanced Dermatology for Primary Care Conference

Overview

Back once again with the latest information relevant to dermatology, Advanced Dermatology for Primary Care is designed for the non-dermatologist and will focus on practical office dermatology. Primary care physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other medical professionals with an interest in dermatology are encouraged to attend. Faculty will present a wide spectrum of common dermatological problems and emphasize effective management. Ample opportunity will be given for questions during the lectures and at the end of each session.

Two intensive hands-on workshops featuring biopsy, excision, simple repairs, cryosurgery and electrocautery techniques will take place on Sunday morning. Participants will be expected to bring some surgical instruments. More detailed information will be provided upon receipt of your registration.

Optional Botulinum Toxin Workshop

A live patient demonstration will be available at The UVM Medical Center to illustrate the injection of botulinum toxin for glabellar and forehead wrinkles (must have valid VT medical license to actively participate in the botulinum toxin workshop).

Objectives

At the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to:

1. Describe the pathophysiology of the most common dermatologic problems such as acne, dermatitis, psoriasis, skin infections and skin tumors.
2. Identify current therapies available for these conditions and how they are administered.
3. Apply proper dermatology coding.

Accreditation

The University of Vermont College of Medicine is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The University of Vermont designates this live activity for a maximum of 14 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

This program has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 14 Nursing Contact Hours.

This Live activity, Advanced Dermatology for Primary Care 2016, with a beginning date of 10/13/2016, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 14.00 Prescribed credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

Determination of Pharmacotherapeutic credit is pending.

Please note: If you do not participate in the optional Sunday workshops, the conference is accredited for 10 credits.

Recreation/Leisure Time

This course, combining an intensive program with a long weekend timetable, is designed so that participants are free in the afternoons to enjoy the beauty of foliage season in Vermont. Burlington is ideally situated on the shores of Lake Champlain, the sixth largest freshwater lake in the U.S. and offers great shopping and excellent restaurants. Echo at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain provides fun learning activities for children on the ecology, history and culture of Lake Champlain. Historic Shelburne Farms and the Shelburne Museum, an eclectic collection of Americana, are a 20-minute drive from the Hotel. Within an hour drive are the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory, UVM Morgan Horse Farm, and the world's largest granite quarry, as well as hiking trails for all ages.

Please mention your participation in this course to receive the conference rate of $189-209 per night. Please be sure to book early as the hotel sells out during this time of year. Room rates cannot be guaranteed after September 6, 2016.
