Submit your medical school story!

Classes through the yearsStories are immortal.

There once was man who came upon a wizard. The wizard in turn said to the man I will grant you one wish…the man thought and finally he asked the wizard… if I were to wish to be rich, what would you make me? The wizard answered, I would make you into a pot of gold. The man thought again and asked a second question…And if I were to wish to be strong and hard, what would you make me?  I would make you into a stone, said the wizard. And again the man thought…And if I were to wish to be immortal, to live forever, what would you make me? I would make you into a story, said the wizard.

Stories are immortal. They enter the brain by a different pathway and last beyond a lifetime. We all came to the College as strangers and each of us left to build our own house of medicine. Our years in medical school are filled with stories. Words and memories blend together to make a narrative, a chronicle, an adventure. These stories are the inscriptions of our medical alma mater and our history that moves us forward.

The UVM Medical Alumni Association is creating an avenue for us to share our stories and create a tapestry of experiences. We invite you to submit a narrative about your medical school experiences: funny ones, serious ones, stories that influenced your career paths. any story related to your medical school years. The collection of narratives will be considered for publication in a UVM Larner College of Medicine journal of alumni stories. Write it my friends! We look forward to reading the narratives you create.

Warm regards,
